Maureen Blumenthal and Richard Mason, known as Mo B. and Dick, create a harmonious blend stemming from a chance meeting at a California Bluegrass camp a decade ago. Grafting compelling vocals and tight harmonies to old musical rootstock, this duo adds fresh flavor to a bumper crop of original and traditional songs.
Appearing at Front Porch Music's Town Hall Theatre showcase, Blue Birds On A Wire -- the only bluegrass band with a lead singer on the pedal harp. At 15 years old, singer-songwriter Joselyn Sky is perhaps the first classically trained harpist to cross over into the world of Bluegrass. Mandolinist Jasper Manning’s impressive skill and vocals take the band’s sound to new heights while Bass player Scott Conroy masterfully holds down the low notes and blends in vocal harmonies like butter.
Michael Ching, a Lafayette actor and musician, brings depth to the stage with his performances in plays and musicals. Once a professional guitarist, he now finds joy in playing music inspired by his parents, former entertainers at the Forbidden City nightclub in San Francisco during the mid-20th century.
