Thank You, Community Foundation of Lafayette!
We are honored and grateful to the Community Foundation of Lafayette for naming Front Porch Music a recipient of a 2026 Excellence Grant.
Last night, Austin and Andree Hurst attended the Foundation’s awards celebration in the Don Tatzin Community Hall at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center. It was a wonderful evening recognizing local nonprofits that are helping strengthen the civic, cultural, educational, and general well-being of our community.
Adding to the warm atmosphere was Front Porch Music regular Doug Wong, whose beautiful Hawaiian slack key guitar music provided the perfect soundtrack for the gathering. Thank you, Doug, for sharing your talent and helping make the evening so special.
Since launching as a nonprofit in 2024, Front Porch Music has grown from a small Lafayette gathering into a vibrant community of more than 400 musicians and music enthusiasts. Through our open mics, songwriter sessions, community concerts, and Gift Guitar Program, we strive to create welcoming spaces where people can connect through music—whether as performers, listeners, volunteers, or supporters.
The Community Foundation of Lafayette has been an important partner in this work, supporting Front Porch Music in 2024, 2025, and now again in 2026. Their investment helps ensure that music continues to be a powerful source of connection, creativity, and community life in Lafayette and the surrounding area.
To the Foundation, its donors, volunteers, and leadership: thank you for believing in the power of community-centered music programming and for helping organizations like Front Porch Music thrive.
We look forward to another year of making music together.
