Brother John is a multi-instrumentalist/singer/sometimes songwriter whose eclectic style, arranging and voice make for an interesting, captivating and soulful listening experience. He draws long and hard on the roots of modern acoustic music playing songs and styles from old English folk and sea chanties, early 20th century cowboy songs, bluegrass, blues, folk and Americana, old country, Hawaiian slack key and lap steel, and singer/songwriter material from the 60s-90s. John often arranges songs using different instruments and tunings than their original recording, creating a unique and exciting listening experience. In addition to playing guitar, he also plays bass, lap steel guitar,… ukulele, mandolin and mandola. His many influences include Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, The Band, Rick Danko, Eric Clapton, Beatles, George Harrison, Bill Monroe, Peter Rowan, Charlie Patton, Blind Willie McTell, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Richard Thompson, Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, Jackson Brown, David Lindley, Ledward Ka'apana, Keola Beamer, Dennis Kamakahi, Gabby Pahinui, and The Grateful Dead.....and all points in between!
